Congressman Roger Marshall was in Moundridge for a tour at Southwind Global Aviation. Turner Landon lead the tour explaining the company's role in exporting aircraft to 89 countries around the world.
Congressman Marshall saw first hand how aircraft are either flown to their destination or they are taken apart and placed into wooden shipping containers for their journey.
Moundridge Mayor Gary Fisher and Economic Development Director Murray McGee also discussed the city's plans to extend the airport runway and make other improvements at the airport to assist Southwind Global and other local businesses. They also discussed contacts the city has made with companies in the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Industry. Moundridge is positioned very well for this rapidly growing industry.
The group also discussed area workforce needs and the demand for more housing. Fisher and McGee talked about the city's need for assistance to address the demands on infrastructure that come with residential and business growth.
