City Grant Surveys

lmi survey

The City of Moundridge is planning to apply for a Community Development Block Grant to repair or replace our swimming pool. The grant, from the Kansas Department of Commerce can pay for 50% of the costs for the pool up to a limit of $1 million.

The Kansas Small Cities CDBG Program surveys are being mailed out this week. They will help determine if the city is eligible to receive federal funding for infrastructure projects.

They will be held in strict confidence; no names are to be entered on the income survey. An identification code will be written on each form to assist in the tabulation. The surveys will be tabulated by the Ranson Financial Group LLC in Wichita.

The survey will ask for information regarding your family size and household income. But it only asks for a “range” of your household income, not a specific dollar amount and the ranges are broad. Again, it’s important to note that no names are to be entered on the income survey.

You will notice on the survey form it states that if the City qualifies for the CDBG funding it could be used for other future infrastructure projects such as, but not limited to, Fire Station Expansion, street and/or drainage improvements, sewer plant improvements and water line improvements. This is because the survey results can be used for future grant applications for a period of five years.

We would also like to note that a public hearing will be held regarding any potential improvement projects prior to any grant applications being submitted.

It is very important that we have as many surveys returned as possible to qualify for the grant. If we do not receive enough surveys back from the initial mailing a representative from Ranson Financial or the City of Moundridge will be going door to door to collect the survey.

The survey forms can be mailed to the City Office or placed in the drop box at the City office. All surveys need to be returned by January 25th.

If you have any questions about the survey call Rose Mary Saunders with Ranson Financial Group at 316-264-3400.
